this is what I wrote:

. Introduction to your problem: low-income Hispanic community and health care

In order to address health disparities, community health workers (CHWs) are important, especially for poor or disadvantaged populations. Community Health Workers (CHWs) are ordinary people of the community who work with the community healthcare system in both urban and rural settings, either for salary or as volunteers (Role of Community Health Workers, 2014). Also, CHWs can assist in addressing disparities in health and advancing health equity. Research shows that compared to the overall population, the low-income Hispanic community experiences a higher rate of diabetes and related effects (Rosal et al., 2005). Therefore, it is essential to understand the health disparities that affect this specific group of people. Many poor communities face challenges in accessing quality healthcare due to factors like language barriers, cultural differences, and economic disparities. The disparities in healthcare access by immigrants, refugees, and people of low income are a valid issue that should be looked at (Torres et al., 2014). The primary purpose of it is to help fill this gap by employing individuals from the community who are trained to provide culturally sensitive support. CHWs can significantly improve health outcomes and promote health equity in these communities (On the front lines of Health Equity: Community Health Workers, 2021).

II. Analyze the disparity from a systems perspective:

To further our understanding of this issue and need for CHWs we could refer to systems thinking. systems thinking is a method that analyses the relationships and connections between the many parts of a complex system. We must first understand the inflow and outflows of this issue. In a low-income Hispanic community, the term “inflow” refers to the entrance of resources such as funds, medical supplies, and healthcare services. Many factors contribute to health disparities, such as socioeconomic problems (low income, limited access to healthcare), challenges related to language and culture, and limited health education (Tzenios, 2019). The main causes of these differences are also limited access to healthcare services, a lack of health awareness, and food instability. All of these problems add up to complicate the challenges that the community faces.

On the other hand, outflows relate to things leaving. This may result in poor living conditions, an increase in long-term healthcare costs, and an increase in diabetes-related symptoms (Kahkoska et al., 2022). It is important to assess the effects these outcomes have on society at large, the healthcare system, and the individuals themselves. Beyond the immediate health issues, they also affect the general well-being of the community and put a load on the healthcare system. There is an urgent necessity for comprehensive solutions to address these disparities and improve the general health outcomes in low-income Hispanic populations.

III. Identify what needs to be done to improve health equity:

Firstly, understanding the root causes as well as contributing factors, such as offering culturally appropriate diabetes treatment and education, will help to promote health equality. Secondly, we should increase the accessibility of affordably priced health care services, such as routine examinations and tools for managing diabetes. Third, encouraging people to have access to cheap, nutritious food in order to reduce food poverty. Also, it is important to study the idea of hiring multilingual CHWs who are aware of the requirements of the community which will help reduce the effect of the language and cultural barriers. fourth, CHW programs need organizations that can provide committed funding and resources, and international organizations should make sure this is the case. fifth, there should be a rise in the number of CHW certification and training programs that are standardized, as this would guarantee that these professionals to serve their communities effectively. This also covers communication and basic medical knowledge. sixth, establishing strong monitoring and evaluation procedures will enable continuous review of the CHW program’s effectiveness. Important factors such as patient satisfaction and healthcare utilization rates can assist in identifying areas for improvement and direct program adjustments.

IV. Propose an intervention to increase health equity:

There are so many effective interventions that could help increasing health equity and decrease health disparities. It’s important to look into the advantages that could result from hiring and training more qualified Community Health Workers. Employ CHWs from the Hispanic community who speak Spanish well and are culturally aware. They will be trusted intermediaries between the healthcare system and the community. Moreover, an intervention plan can be put into place to address the diabetes health disparity in the Hispanic community. for example, developing culturally appropriate health education programs on important topics like exercise, good food, and blood sugar monitoring. Furthermore, partnerships with community clinics and medical professionals will ensure accessible and reasonably priced diabetic treatment, including routine examinations and prescription medications. Partnerships with neighborhood food banks and organizations will be formed to serve the community further and ensure that a variety of affordable and rich in nutrients food options are available. This comprehensive approach will be sustained through long-term follow-up and support systems, with Community Health Workers (CHWs) playing a central role in monitoring and assisting individuals in effectively managing their diabetes. Through this systems-focused intervention, we aim to reduce the diabetes health disparity, promote health equity, and enhance the overall well-being of the community.
