Action research living theory helps students use the theories, models, methods, and insights to guide them toward improving their self-awareness and leadership abilities.

This assignment seeks to engage you in the process of deeply reflecting on a matter important to you alone.

In this assignment, you will complete a template to apply action research living theory methodology and research design to evaluate and improve your leadership skills. You will focus on using reflective practice in your doctoral journey and professional practice.

Complete the  using peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles to focus on reflective practice during and after your doctoral journey. Build upon your current self-awareness as a leader using living theory methodology and theories, models, methods, and insights from your research. Include in-text citations.

REFERENCES/CITATIONS:  Include at least one citation in your response to each of the seven questions. Overall, you need only FOUR different source references total for your Reference Page; in other words, you may cite from the same reference more than once.  Of course, you may provide more than four references.  Three of your source references must be beyond Nanwani, our course-assigned text reading.  My own instructor-provided readings have been simply recommended and are, therefore, fine for your use as citations within this assignment.

In anticipation of the student questions I commonly receive on this assignment, I offer you the following tips: 

1.  Before you begin…. For an overview of relevant definitions and specifics of your assignment, you’ll likely want to do a quick review of Nanwani’s Module 2 reading.  You will definitely want to refer to Nanwani’s Appendix 1 for clear examples of how to approach your 7 action research living theory self-awareness questions.  

YOUR FOCUS:  In this assignment, you are taking Nanwani’s routed journey toward your own personal self-awareness (utilizing a personal or professional concern of your own) with the assistance of action research living theory.

2.  How do I use this template?…. For each of the seven questions posed to you,

Input your discussion commentary after the prompt words, “Your Response:” on the template.  This means for Question #1, for example, you’ll want to explain your responses to the earlier questions under ‘Your Response’—-so all of your discussion on this question is neatly constructed within one place. In other words, you will be answering all three of these questions under the term ‘Your Response.’ If you are making any modifications or qualifications to any of these questions, you’ll explain them under ‘Your Response’.

The template is provided as a Word document that expands to accommodate any number of paragraphs or sentences you desire.  You may use it as-is, or replicate it as a Word document.

Single-spacing is preferred when our assignments utilize provided templates. 

Your response to a question may well flow from one page to another page of your document.

Be certain on each question to provide at least one outside-of-course citation to support your thoughts.  

As always, I will be looking for well-developed, substantive paragraphs of clear, scholarly sentences.  

3.  How do you respond to these prompts? First-person, indicative of self-reflection and introspection, will be essential in this and the next assignment of our course.  For clarification on reflective writing, you may want to review my discussion post of Module 1, along with its accompanying handout on reflective vs. academic writing.

4.  Expect high TII scores:   TurnItIn scores will be higher than usual due to our use of the Template–especially as we grow nearer to the due date of the assignment, so don’t stress over this.   Your instructors and future course auditors expect these types of score increases that are clearly due to the repeated submission of our assignment prompts, headings, and other course-provided content.  (I must look at extraordinarily high scores on a case-by-case basis.)
